The goals of the task force are:

                                                               i.      Hazard Reduction

                                                             ii.      Regulation

                                                            iii.      Risk of Spread

                                                           iv.      Impacts

                                                             v.      Coordination

Our goals on the monitoring committee should meet these tasks. Here are the monitoring committee goals:

    1. Monitoring Committee Goals/Tasks

                                                               i.      Maintain up-to-date spatial database of SOD

                                                             ii.      Provide access to up-to-date spatial database via:

1.      Maps

2.      Web

3.      Text reports

                                                            iii.      Develop survey for determining presence of SOD in California

                                                           iv.      Coordinate survey completion

                                                             v.      Determine potential areas for SOD spread

                                                           vi.      Coordinate with other committees

Please see attached table to review how the goals of the monitoring committee fit in with the overall goals of the COMTF at large.

  1. Regulation Definitions.

We discussed what the regulation requires, and the definitions used:

    1. Regulated – Counties containing confirmed sites.
    2. Area known to be Infested – Known to be infested (1/4 mile buffer around confirmed sites)
    3. Area known to be Uninfested – area within the regulated area that have been specifically surveyed by authorized personnel using an approved survey technique and found free from P. ramorum.
    4. Area not known to be infested – all other areas not included above and contained within regulated area.
  1. Sampling Protocol (from Pest Alert 5)

We discussed how SOD is sampled, and mentioned that the protocol is available.

  2. We discussed the proposed free-from survey, developed by Wally Mark. A motion was passed that recommends this protocol be adopted by the COMTF.
