Our lab is involved in many outreach projects, some of them are highlighted here. Read below about some of our projects.
Sierra Nevada Adaptive Management Project
A UC Science
Team made up of researchers from UC Berkeley and UC Merced is working
with the California and Federal agencies to develop
an adaptive management and monitoring program
consistent with the Sierra Nevada Forest Plan Amendment. Collaboration with the public is a critical component of this project.
See our research and outreach page for SNAMP and project website.
Sudden Oak Death
We help maintain the spatial data depicting SOD distribution, and perform many other public outreach events related to sudden oak death.
See our research and outreach page for sudden oak death, also our Monitoring Sudden Oak Death site, the OakMapper (enter
information about trees, and view distribution maps), and California Oak Mortality Task Force (COMTF).
CoyoteBytes
We are
building a webGIS site to gather information from the public about contact between coyotes and pets in the WUI. This is a collaborative project with Bob Timm at Hopland Research and Extension Center, and Karin Tuxen at the GIIF is the lead on this project.
See our CoyoteBytes website here.
GIS/RS/GPS Training & Outreach: Geospatial Literacy
We provide the latest information on geospatial technologies (GIS/RS/GPS) and applications to clientele groups in California.
See more details here.
Invasive Species
We have developed, in conjunction with a statewide weed mapping group, a GIS manual for mapping invasive species.
