Background:
I
received my Bachelors degree in Environmental Science (Geology emphasis,
Political
Science minor) from Northern Arizona University in 1996. I worked
for the Ecological Society
of America for two years before returning
to graduate school. I completed my PhD in the Department
of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management at UC Berkeley in May
2003, where I carried out research on
the several aspects of freshwater monitoring, including the relationship
between freshwater macroinvertebrate
communities and local and large scale land
use/land
cover change, and the use of webGIS in community monitoring. I spent
one year as a AAAS
Diplomacy Fellow with the U.S. Department of State, Bureau
of
Oceans
and International
Environmental
and Scientific
Affairs, Offices of Oceans Affairs and Marine Conservation. I am
currently the Academic Coordinator for the Center
for Fire Research and Outreach at UC Berkeley.
